The Franklin Gazette
The Franklin Gazette is, along with the website, a way for Friends to share information with each other. The Gazette is published quarterly, with issues scheduled to appear in March, June, September, and December of each year.
Newsletter submissions are encouraged. Deadlines are the 15th of the month preceding publication. A variety of types and lengths of articles are welcomed, including:
- Research articles dealing with some aspect of Franklin's life or contributions. These can be scholarly in nature and should include proper references and footnoting. Lengthy research articles are generally broken up to run in two or three separate issues of the Gazette.
- Brief research notes summarizing a research project, or highlighting a particular Franklin-related issue.
- News items about Franklin related events.
- Interesting tidbits from your local newspaper, newsletters or magazines you subscribe to -- as long as they are Franklin-related.
- Book reviews or suggestions of books to be reviewed. Again, there should be a Franklin angle here.
- URLs of websites related to Franklin and his interests.
- Ideas to share with other Friends -- how you successfully celebrated Franklin's birthday in your community, how you recruited new members for the Friends, how you reached out to young people to educate them about Franklin's contributions, etc. Also, questions and concerns you might have that other Friends might be able to address.
Submissions via e-mail and computer disk are particularly appreciated. Please send your submissions to Carol Smith.
